By default, email messages you send from Yahoo Mail have no explicit "importance" information (aka "priority level") - but nearly all webmail providers and email programs, Yahoo allows you to specify a priority for your emails. For some reason, Yahoo Mail does not currently include this functionality - unlike what some say, even upgrading to Yahoo Mail Plus will not add this feature to your account. As we mention in our email etiquette tutorial, you should typically avoid using importance for your emails: the bottom line is that respectful email senders only send important emails, and send non-priority messages to the recipient's personal email address. But there are several ways to set a priority to your messages by bypassing the web browser version of Yahoo Mail, as explained below.
While Yahoo Mail doesn't allow you to choose a priority setting for emails you send from a web browser, you can use your Yahoo Mail account to send emails from any other provider or email program that can connect with the service - here are a few examples:
