While our Mozilla Mail tutorial focuses on Windows, keep in mind that Mozilla Mail is a "cross-platform" email client: it runs and operates the same way on Windows, Apple's Mac OS X and Linux.
The Mozilla Foundation also offers the standalone Thunderbird email client: see the Mozilla Thunderbird Tutorial
Importing Settings in Mozilla Mail or SeaMonkey Mail
If you are switching to Mozilla Mail from another email applications, you may be able to import general account settings. Mozilla Mail lets you import general settings from Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, or Qualcomm Eudora.
To import settings from another email client, go to Tools > Import; the Import wizard will open. Click Settings, and Next.
If Mozilla Mail gives you a confirmation message like Settings were imported from [blank], the operation went smoothly. Click Finish. To verify that Mozilla Mail did indeed import your email settings, go to Tools > Account Settings, and make sure that you see the email account(s) that should have been imported.
Removing Unwanted Email Accounts
If multiple accounts were imported, but you only wanted to import one of them, highlight the unwanted account, and click the Remove Account button.
Click the confirmation, and proceed until you are left with the email account(s) you originally wanted to import.
You can now import your contacts or import your emails.
